Our story

We built our platform because we’d seen what breaks

Back in 2004, we implemented Oracle HR & payroll for large organisations across public service, banking, insurance and services, in Europe and Africa. From there it grew: payroll across ten Belgian hospitals, then ten African countries, then twenty.

Along the way we learned how HR and payroll really work, and where they get complicated. So we built Popay: our own platform, shaped by twenty years of connecting HR and payroll systems. We still bring the deep technical side. We just pair it with a real feel for how HR works on a Tuesday afternoon.

The Popay platform is born

We turn years of integration experience into our own all-inclusive HR & payroll software.

2012

Shared Service Centre

Payroll operations for 15,000 employees across 10 Belgian hospitals.

2014

Managed payroll

Payroll-manager services launch: first in an oil & gas company in Gabon.

2017

10 countries in Africa

Popay expands to 10 African countries.

2019

Workday & Oracle

Integrations with Workday, Oracle NetSuite & Fusion, and 20 countries in Africa.

2020

Talent platform

Our talent & recruitment platform launches, seeding today’s Recruit, Perform and Learn.
