We didn’t start with a product. We started by making HR and payroll systems work together, across Europe and Africa, one landscape at a time. Two decades on, that hands-on experience became our own platform.
We built our platform because we’d seen what breaks
Back in 2004, we implemented Oracle HR & payroll for large organisations across public service, banking, insurance and services, in Europe and Africa. From there it grew: payroll across ten Belgian hospitals, then ten African countries, then twenty.
Along the way we learned how HR and payroll really work, and where they get complicated. So we built Popay: our own platform, shaped by twenty years of connecting HR and payroll systems. We still bring the deep technical side. We just pair it with a real feel for how HR works on a Tuesday afternoon.
